The Birth of the Beast

Sometimes it’s the small successes in life you have to take pride in. The slow, steady march of Time moves ever onward and it’s easy to allow yourself to flounder and succumb. It’s so much harder to stand up, to accept life as it is, and forge a path ahead, regardless. And this is what I’ve decided to do…

There will be no more victim mentality. There will be no more “I’m too tired, poor me, I can’t cope!” There will just be me: the Beast. A new creature, birthed from the ashes of the old. Stronger and more determined to achieve her dreams, than ever!

I might be a Beast, but I have learned the value of patience. There is no need for stress and rush. There is simply a need for action, no matter how small. It need only be relatively constant. Without forward momentum, we stagnate and die. And this Beast isn’t keeling over any time soon.

To this end, despite what has been taking place in my waking life, I successfully submitted a short story to a very exciting anthology, compiled and edited by the talented and well recognised Rhonda Parrish and published by World Weaver Press!

I cut it fine with this one, by the skin of my teeth, really, but I did it. And I’m glad. Even if I’m not selected for the final cut, I’ll still be proud, because I did what I set out to do. Simply finish an intriguingly dark take on the concept of Mrs Claus. I’m usually no fan of the holidays… but this was too interesting to pass up. I do so love twisting things!

In other news, I’m raiding my writing archives and toying with various pieces of Flash Fiction for submission, shortly. I love a quick bite of fiction and it’s fantastic to see that there are more and more markets opening up and taking advantage of and showcasing this medium. I’d  truly love to see more Flash Fiction anthologies out there!

PS: The title of this blog relates to not just me, but to my short story submission. Intrigued? Indeed.

Thanks for visiting.

May you feast upon the flesh of your enemies!
